To guide you through the process, below is our policy and a checklist to assist you in keeping track of all required information. We look forward to seeing you and your child at our upcoming Open House.

Saint Francis of Assisi Mission Statement

St. Francis of Assisi School Non-Discrimination Policy

It is the policy of the Department of Education that the Roman Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of Boston, inclusive of private and parochial schools, admit students of any race, color national or ethic origin to all rights, privileges and programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the schools.  The schools of the Archdiocese of Boston do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin, in the administration of educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, and in the hiring of school personnel.

The goal of our Catholic schools is to present Catholic faith and Catholic teaching to our students in a rigorous academic, spiritual, and moral education program.  Catholic school students strive for high academic achievement, are taught to love and worship God, and live the Gospel teachings.  Catholic school students work together, build community, and give service to others.

  • Applications will be accepted from families wishing to enroll their child in St. Francis of Assisi School regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, or religion.  All students, Catholic and non-Catholic, must attend Religion classes and participate in all religious activities conducted in and by the school.
  • All admissions to Saint Francis of Assisi School will be appointed by the principal.

Admissions Process

The admissions process consists of several steps.  The first step is for the prospective family /student to come and have a tour of the school. At that time the family receives an application packet.  Once the application is filled out and returned with the required paper work, the principal reviews the application. The family will be notified of their child’s admission status within one week of submitting the completed registration, along with ALL documentation and fees, to Saint Francis of Assisi School.

All registrations are dated and we will continue with rolling admissions until all vacancies are full. Please note if your child is placed on a waiting list, the fee will not be processed until the child has been formally accepted into the school.

Students will be accepted on the following basis:

State law requires children to be 3 by August 31 for two day program.  Four years old is the requirement for the full day program and 5 years old for kindergarten.

  • Review of academic records from previous school
  • Grades 1-8 interview with principal & teacher
  • Students with siblings already enrolled in school
  • Identified parishioners
  • Parishioners within the Braintree Collaborative (St. Clare’s, St. Thomas More)
  • Members of the wider community
  • Numbered, as well as dated application
  • Letter of recommendation from previous school
  • Discipline records

Items needed to complete the registration packet:

  • Birth certificate
  • Baptismal certificate  (if applicable)
  • Current  medicals- immunizations & physical records *** All students must be immunized/vaccinated***
  • Report card/progress report
  • National test scores (if applicable)
  • $250.00 Registration fee (non-refundable)

Additional information

Tuition assistance applications can be obtained from the principal during registration and re-registration time. A W-2 form must be provided before application for admission is viewed by the committee.

Our school hours are 7:55 AM to 2:00 PM. Bus transportation is available at no charge to Braintree residents, except middle school students. Their parents/guardians are required to pay a yearly fee.

The involvement of parents/guardians is actively encouraged at Saint Frances of Assisi School and is an important aspect of the academic and spiritual development of each child.

Saint Francis’ academic excellence is confirmed by the numerous scholastic awards and citations our students continue to receive. Mean scores on standardized tests are consistently well above grade level and above predicted scores for both classes and individuals. Class size averages 25 students.

St. Francis families accept the responsibility of tuition and are financially obligated for the full year’s tuition when the student takes a seat at St. Francis School. Parents will not be able to register their children for the next school year if all financial obligations are not met.
